This blog has been created to help students at Prep Charter High School with their summer reading assignments. Students going into the 9th grade are required to read Night by Elie Wiesel. Students are encouraged to post questions and comments as they read. While teachers will be adding their thoughts, students should also discuss the book with each other via the blog.

I dont Really know much about Holocaust. And I never read books about Holocaust. But I've seen a movies about Holocaust, but I forgot the Title of the movie.
I do not know a whole lot about the holocaust but I do know that during that time Hitler was killing many Jews and was able to kill 5million people. This was also what started the world war two and when the Germans or Nazi's began war against the U.S.A and they killed as many Jews as they could until Hitler commited suicide. That's when the Germans began surrendering to the U.S.
I have not read "Night" ,yet but I have read many books about the Holocaust. I also have learned about it in my last year of C.C.C.S . I aslo read and saw "The Diary of Anne Frank".
Yes I have read "I Have Lived A Thousand Years".It was ok...I didn't like it that much but i read The Diary Of Anne Frank..it was awesome..it really showed all the things Anne and her family went through to not get caught by the Nazis. In the end she got caught but she hid her diary so we can read all her struggles. I also watch a documentary on a surviour who friends all got killed in the death camps.It was so sad.

I know that during the Holocaust, many Jews were killed. I haven't read many books on the Holocaust besides the one at my old school. I haven't watched any movies on it either.

The things that I know about the book night are that it is basically about the Holocaust and the horrible way that the Germans treated the Jews and many others.
Yes, I have read another book that is similar to the Holocaust called "The Diary of Anne Frank" which expressed the same ideas and conceps.
The holocaust was a real horrible thing to the jewish people.More than 6 million people died.jewish people were sent in camps and were killed in different ways.People were killed in gas chambers.People had there homes taken away.People had there jewerly taken away.
i know a little about the holocaust but not as much as i want to know. i have yet to read any books on the holocaust but i did see a movie recently called "The Illusionist" that talked about the holocaust.
I know plenty about the Holocaust but I have not read the book night yet and i am looking forward to reading it.from the summaries i have read i see that it is about a fictional charter but the evnts acualy happened to Elie Wiesel i think the book will be very good to read and would make a great movie.
I watched a movie about Anne Frank and her family and how they had to live in a warehouse they suffered a lot.The holocaust was a very sad time for the Jewish people a lot of them suffered. They got burned in gas chambers and they got shot for trying to run away.
What I already know about the Holocaust is that millions of people died.Also that many died from not eating or the gas chamber. I read "The Diary of Anne Frank". Yes, i did seen a movie about the Holocaust, but I forgot.
There are many things i know about the holocaust like the fact that 11 million people were killed because of Hilter's goals to destroy all Jewish people. The concentration camps were cruel because Jews were forced to work and didn't have anything to eat.
This is why Jews went into hiding to avoid being forced to be put into concentration camps. The book i've read was the Anne Frank's diary and i have watched the movie about it.
In 8th grade,We saw a movie called " Life Is Beautiful." The movie was about a Jewish man named Guido who married a Italian woman named Dora who had a 5 year old son named Joshua. On day Guido,his son, and his uncle were taken to a concentration camp in Germany by the Nazi's who burned old people and children and made buttons and soap out of them.
My name is Milena and over the years I have been taught a lot of things about the Holocaust. The most important thing about the Holocaust is that it was led by a dictator named Adolf Hitler. He first took over Germany and tried to kill off any one who he didn't see as perfect. (blond hair and blue eyes). Then he went to other countries and started killing mass numbers of people. it took years for people to finally do something about what he was doing.
I have read a book about the holocaust called "The diary of Ann Frank". It was about a young girl named Ann Frank and her family during the holocaust. They were hiding in the attic of a factory so that they wouldn't get caught by the Nazis. A lot of things took place and they had to live a hard life, but in the end they did get caught. the moral of the story is that you should always keep your head up because that's what Ann did in her time of despair.

The Holocaust is about the persecution of 6 millon jews and 5 millon others. The Holocaust is a greek word meaning "sacrifice by fire". During the Holocaust German authorities also targeted other groups like: Gypsies, the disables, and slavic people. Most Jews got killed in concentration camps in gas champers. By the late 1030s there were hundreds of camps scattered throughout Germany. The movie about the holocast I watched is called "The Pianist"
This story has to do with the holocaust.this story also involves Hitler and the Jews, he killed many people,women and men. There is also an movie about the holocaust,it is sad but it teaches us about what was happing back in the day.
I know that the holocaust was led by a man named Adolf Hitler and that he disliked everything about Jews. He believed that every citizen should have particular features, such as: blond hair and blue eyes,which is a bit ironic if you ask me because Hitler had neither. In addition, I know that Hitler had concentration camps were Jews were taken to, to be killed or work as slaves. As you can see I know some history about Hitler.
The book "Night" looks like a good book from its cover.I did see the movie Anne Franks Dairy.
I've read about the holocaust. The holocaust started when the stock market crashed into the United States. which leads it to The Great Depression. Germany had got effected. The people were suffering. Some lost their jobs, others was hungry.
I have'nt read the book yet, but from the sounds of it, it seems like a great book.It would be my pleasure to read this interesting book.
I know that the holocaust all started because the stock markets crashed in the united states, which lead to "The Great Depression". Germany was one of the many countries that got effected. The people of Germany were hungry and lost their jobs. They also noticed that the jewish people that lived in their country still had their jobs. Adolfe Hitler took up the chance and influenced the people that the jews caused them to lose their jobs.
Before reading "Night I knew that the Holocaust was ran by a cruel man named Adolf Hitler, who wanted all Jermens to be a dominate race, with blond hair and blue eye's. To do that he exterminated over millions of jews by him self. Other than "Night" I never read a story about the Holocaust, but I have seen the movie of "Diary of Ann Frank" which was about a Jewish girl that was in hiding with other jewish peers, for a couple of years they were in hiding, with the acception of almost getting caught, untill there times of living in fear was over and the Nazi's took them away,they died accept for Ann Frank's Father, which dicoverd Ann's diary.

I actually know a bit about the Holocaust, because I've read Night before but that was a while ago, and I've read The Dairy of Anne Frank.I have seen movies such as, Life Is Beautiful,and I've also heard about Schindler's List and The Piano Man, and Freedom Writers had a little bit about it,Plus I've learned about it in history about how approximately 6 million Jews were killed and basically Adolf Hitler wanted to kill off the whole Jewish race because he felt that the Jews were inferior and Germans were supreme,also it wasn't just Jews, it was Gypsies,and almost anybody who was different or weak.It was one of the biggest genocides in history.
